Best airline card for this situation
January 5th, 2009Every other year I charge about $6,000 for airline tickets and I get 2% cash back using my Household Bank Gold credit card. On other years, it's usually less than $1,000.
I am looking for an airline credit card that gives more than 2% cash back or more than 2% in points where the points can be redeemed for economy class tickets to Singapore and/or Australia.
What is the best airline card for this situation?
There are AMEX and VISA/MC credit card forums here in Flyertalk where there is discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of each. Although Starwood mentioned in the posts above offers one of the best deals, a 5000 point bonus to boost your 20000 point total to get a free ticket, other credit cards may offer something that may fit your ff goals better. A lot depends on what airlines you are interested in, your spending patterns, where you live, etc.

Starwood is the best for sure.

Starwood from Amex is a very good choice. Another option is Premier Pass from Citibank, which earns you points for airline tickets. You can find more information in this forum or www.citicards.com.
