Help on AP reward booking

  • Hey kids:
    So I'm trying to book 2 reward seats for me and the missus to join sister
    and brother in law in the Big Apple for a wknd in Oct. When I check availability for D class on the AP booking engine, it shows no avail in business for the 8 am YYC-YYZ but o.k. for YYZ-LGA leg, yet when I check the YYC-YYZ leg only (i.e not putting in YYC-LGA) it show available. Same for the return. When I put in for LGA-YYC it doesnt show the YYZ-YYC 22:00 flight as available (it wants to send us thru YOW and YEG!) , but when I check YYZ-YYC only, it shows business as available! I'm sure I checked the connection times leaving 2 hrs for transborders in YYZ. Any theories?
    Should I phone AP and challenge them with this question?

  • Have you thought about getting a *A award on AC/UA via DEN or ORD? Was able to do this no problem two months out last year. As I've priced out a YYC-SFO-NYC, I think you can use points for that as well, but I'm not 100% sure.

    But to answer your question directly: YES! (and pay the $25)
