Most of this is no big deal, as others have opined, but certain fares to Asia seem pretty good. Am considering a trip to SIN at .0389 cents/eqm. Not a true MR opportunity with the 6 day min turnaround, but if one wanted to go to any of these destinations, even mildly, not a bad opportunity IMHO.
Anybody else seeing this or booking anything?Have always been disappointed by the "value" of the NW sales (newpaper, online, mail, etc). I've never purchased a fare special this way, it's alway been from my code, MR forum, etc. If anything, I've sometimes found better fares online, for the same route, then on the sale. For some it might work (see above post), but the cpm on those fares aren't very MR-friendly (for me)
Steve B.Did you mean to post “3.89¢” per elite qualification mile?
.0389¢ per elite qualification mile would be an incredible bargain.
Yes, always had problems with decimal points. 3.89 cents per eqm.45-min turn around in PVD
1/13 red-eye departure
1/14 evening return
no hotel/car needed
a true mileage run for 2.79 cpm (EQM)I bought a DCA-DTW-TPA weekend trip for 151. Not a great run, but it puts me over into the 10K bonus miles in Mile-A-Safari, plus I am going to be a pirate at the Gasparilla Pirate Festival.
http://www.gasparillapiratefest.com/Picked up LAX-LGW for $404 or 3.57 cents/eqm. Not a MR per se, its more of a "Beer Run' (Old Ale Festival in London :) )
Also LAX-NUE for $520 and 12742 (a shade or 4 cents/eqm) -- Not MR class but this is business.
Could have done LAX-FRA for $448 and 3.7 cents/eqm -- plenty of Beer Run opportunities there :)
BTW, my planned flights to Europe later in the year (Apr-Jun) are running about $200 over last year, so this sale is welcome.I've been looking but have come up pretty dry. Ah the woes of being hub captive. I was hoping that NW would match, or at least come close, to some of UA's recent drops (San Juan, St. Thomas) but so far nada. I'm just itching to do a MR.
Yeah, but you (MSP tied ft'ers) had a sweet deal for the CO London Y mistake and routing options galore. And, as I figured out in the last week, sometimes you just need to try for status on 2 carriers/alliances instead of one:D . (a friend in houston wanted to go to singapore, and UA was really the best (ie, only viable) option for us, so I just need to top that off with another 5k for status)I booked a PHX-SIN trip, and got about 2.8 cents per EQM. With elite bonuses, and perhaps some Miles Safari points, it comes out to about 1.2-1.3 cents per mile.Picked up FLL-SAN for $96.73 / $152.38 all in.
FLL-DTW-LAX-SAN-LAX-MSP-FLL
7130 EQM's, 10,695 banked miles.

This should be a new category! I've made several beer runs to Europe at higher CPM that I'd like, but it was a worthy goal so I paid up. The only problem I see with this as its own category is its unfortunate acronym.Am considering a trip to SIN at .0389 cents/eqm.Did you mean to post “3.89¢” per elite qualification mile?
.0389¢ per elite qualification mile would be an incredible bargain.LAS-DTW is down to $128+ again which is decent.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
